Shauna Barker has over 10 years of experience teaching clarinet to students of all levels from beginner to university level. She offers private clarinet lessons ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the student’s age, level, and proficiency. Students may choose to learn with Shauna in her at-home private clarinet studio in Kanata, Ontario, or online through zoom or facetime meets.
Shauna, a Royal Conservatory of Music-certified teacher, believes in setting goals and evaluating students' progress on a regular basis. Most of her students take RCM examinations every year, and the vast majority of them receive First Class Honours or above.
Shauna also offers Students a great opportunity to perform and master their Clarinet skills and pieces by participating in local festivals and competitions, such as the Kiwanis Music Festivals. Through these events, students are able to have a chance at earning honourable awards and scholarships, as well as improving their clarinet skills for potential upcoming examinations.
Lesson Fees
45 minute lesson: 60$
60 minute lesson: 70$
Lesson fees must be paid monthly, at the beginning of each month. Cash, cheque or e transfer are accepted.
Lesson Cancellation
24 hours notice must be given to avoid a charge. In the case of severe weather or sickness, a virtual lesson can be take the place of the in person lesson if mutually desired. If Shauna cancels the lesson, she will first offer to reschedule the lesson, or refund the lesson fee.
One month's notice is kindly appreciated in the case of termination by student.
Animal Presence
Shauna has a Yorkshire terrier, “Rosie” that is calm, sweet and loves to sit and listen to the lessons. If you do not wish to be near a dog, please let Shauna know in advance of the lesson. Rosie is a hypoallergenic breed of dog.
